Sculpture Project.

Artist Research-

Before I made my sculpture, we had to research 3 artists to help inspire me to create my own sculpture.

Artist1- Harry Bertoia was famous for his sound sculptures known as "Sonambient Sculptures", he never made sculptures with the same sounds and only ever made one of each sound sculpture all creating a unique high pitch sound and giving a soothing effect which sounds spiritual and enchanting. I like the idea of making the sound with sculpture and I think using different materials at different heights will give an effect on the sound. for my sculpture i would like people to make the sound using my sculpture similar to harry bertoia. Overall I really enjoyed looking at his sculptures. Here is a link to hear the sounds of his unique sculptures.

Artist2- Chance Corbeil: The next artist I really enjoyed looking at because he specialises in making wind chimes out of either recyclable metal or keys even cutlery to make sound. I really like the idea of using scrap metal to make sound as i think using different materials to make different pitches of sound which is what chance corbeil was creating. All his work seems to have a theme and he used a mixture of colour, but you also get a vintage/rustic feel to his sculptures which is what really caught my eye when i was researching. For my sculpture I would like to include of these ideas  like using keys or scrap metal to make the sound but also getting people to interact with it. Here is a link to the website that I found the artist on:

Artist3- Karla Black: The Artist that I looked at was Karla Black. She attended Glasgow School of Art before she became a major artist she has had many exhibitions over the years across the country.  I just really like the use of colours and the simplicity that goes into her work but still looks very effective. Most of the materials included in her work consist of soap, eye shadow, cotton wool and toothpaste. She mostly concentrates on Installation and Abstraction. From This Artist I've learnt that the simplest pieces of art can be the most effective. Also from this research by using everyday materials can be just as effective as more expensive and that's what makes it interesting to me. Link to her website:
