Baltic Art Gallery and the Vane Gallery Visit.

Baltic Art Gallery- Monica Bonvicini
The Vane Gallery Newcastle-

My First Art Trip was the Baltic Art Gallery to see the Artist Monica Bonvicini. I was very intrigued by the work she produced and the meaning behind her structural work she made. She expresses herself through art by using sculpture, installation, video, photography, text and performance. Most of her popular work is based on the relationships between architecture, control, gender, space, surveillance, and power. I really enjoyed this particular exhibition because it's unique and quirky especially making sculptures with leather which I found quite interesting.

For our second art gallery visit we went to the vane gallery in newcastle to see the International Print Biennale: 2016 Print Awards. 3 Finalists were chosen to exhibit there art work which were  Marina Bindella (Italy), Cornelia Parker (UK) and Adam Saks (Denmark). I really enjoyed this exhibition visit as it was interesting to see new types of printing processes and how much you can experiment with printing. You can also tell the printing skills have been made very carefully and took time in the making of the print work.

Baltic Art Gallery- Rodney Graham

We were asked to 2 more Gallery visits and the first one being my local art Gallery which is the Baltic Art Gallery. The artist that I went to visit was called Rodney Graham which he was a Canadian artist who wanted  to see a different side to the "avant-Grande"and his experimentalism. In this exhibition he combines his works in film and video with an extensive presentation of his photographic images. I personally enjoyed this particular exhibition as it almost had a slight humour to his work.

Brighton Open Houses- Brighton Festival

The next gallery I visited was part of the Brighton festival which is called Brighton Fringe. This festival involves performance art, small theatre shows (mainly for children) and open houses. Open houses is where people open there houses for local artists to use and sell there work. The open houses last for an entire summer each year and it's free to go in and look. I really enjoyed going to visit the open houses as it was something that I had never heard of before so it was interesting to me on how many people are artists and it helps people to become more well known.

I visited:

  • For the man I love

  • The torjan House

  • Art at the good shepherd
