Urban Textures.

Artist Research-

Artist1- Lucy Shires is a photographer that concentrates on the textures of walls and fits in theme of urban textures which is what I want to do for my personal project. I really like the use of tones and colours used in her photography and it's almost quite grundgy. Lucy Shires  also concentrates on installation and sculptures but keeping to the same theme has her textured photography. I find her work simple yet effective to the eye. My favourite bits of her work is where she concentrates on rust and paint flaking of the work and it's almost as if you get the feelings of the different textures. Lucy shires has always been one of my favourite photographers and continues to inspire me to look closely at urban textures.

Artist2- Robert Rauschenberg was an American painter and graphic artist whose early works anticipated the pop art movement. Rauschenberg is well known for is collages made about politics in the 1950's,  Rauschenberg was both a painter and a sculptor but he also worked with photography, printmaking, paper making, and even performance. He was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1993. He became the recipient of the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts in 1995 in recognition of his more than 40 years of fruitful art making. I found it interesting looking at rauschenberg's life through art and how much he has achieved through the 40 years he has been well known  through the art history. He has been a big influence and looingat his work it'sgiven me ideas on what I would liketodo for my final work.

Artist3- The Boyle Family started in 1985 exhibiting with the whole family. The father Mark Boyle started in the 1960's and was known for the cultural UK Underground around the Traverse Theatre, he then met his wife Joan hills and had 2 children Sebastian and Georgia and when they were old enough they began to help out and were then known as the Boyle family. Although Boyle Family have worked across a wide range of different media including painting, photography, sculpture, film, projection, sound recordings and drawing, they are well known for their Earth studies, which includes air, fire, water and earth in which they were inspired by nature. I found their work very intriguing and the story behind the Boyle family and what they are inspired by. These particular artists I would describe urban and grundgy.
